Upper Hunter’s Corinne Bell wins Regional Educator Award for Newcastle, Maitland and Hunter

Corrine Bell, a family day care (FDC) educator from Upper Hunter Family Day Care, has secured the 2021 Excellence in Family Day Care Regional Educator Award for the Newcastle, Maitland and Hunter region.

The award recognises educators across the FDC sector for their excellence in contributions to early childhood education and care (ECEC). 

Kerri Cone, Manager of Community Services at Upper Hunter Shire Council, congratulated Ms Bell on her success.

“Corinne connects modern day subjects with how traditional First Nations teaching methods are used to support her curriculum,” Ms Cone told local news source Hunter Valley News.

“She continually builds on her professional teaching through extensive research, attending professional development workshops and open dialogue with like minded professionals.”

Through her generous sharing of the knowledge she has built up with other professionals, “she has rightly earned the respect of her peers who turn to her for guidance and support,” Ms Cone said.

Other nominees from the Upper Hunter Shire Council include Michelle Walsh and Louise McRae, who were congratulated by the council for their nominations in the coordinator category in the 2021 awards.

“We are proud of our staff and this achievement highlights the dedication Michelle and Louise have to their job,” Ms Cone told the paper.
