Gympie police give Kids Bizz children the best day ever with special visit

Children and educators from Kids Bizz Early Education Centre, Gympie were delighted to welcome Senior Constable Darren Hewitt, the Gympie Crime Prevention Coordinator, to their service recently.
Senior Constable Hewitt spoke to the children about how to identify a police officer, the role police play in keeping the community safe, the importance of a safety network and when to call Triple Zero (000).
Each child was also provided with colouring activities, their own safety network hand, stickers and balloons. Children loved seeing the police vehicle and interacting with a police officer “at a fun level they understand,” he said.
“It also helps that I know a fair bit about the television shows Paw Patrol and Bluey as the children get so excited that I know about these shows and the characters,” he added.
Sandy Wilcox, the Director of the service, said the visit was fantastic, and that the children and parents were impressed with the police service.
“It was such a great way for children to get to know the police are helpful and are always here for community members” she added.
