KU Children’s Services again recognised as an Employer of Choice

KU Children’s Services has been recognised as an Employer of Choice for a fourth consecutive year at the Australian Business Awards. 

The award “recognises KU as a leading workplace that has maximised the full potential of their workforce through practices that demonstrate effective employee recruitment, engagement and retention”. 

When first winning the award four years ago, KU were the first early childhood education and care (ECEC) provider to do so. Given KU’s reach – with over 2,000 employees over 140 services – the award establishes KU as one of Australia’s leading employers in the ECEC sector. 

KU CEO Christine Legg said the organisation was delighted by the award, in particular with winning for the fourth year in a row. 

“As a sector leader with nearly 125 years of experience in early education, we have long recognised our employees as key to our ongoing success,” she noted.

Ms Legg said KU was “driven by the passionate pursuit of quality early education and encourage others to join us as we work to ensure that every child can experience high quality early childhood education, where they can play, discover and learn”.

To secure the award, those organisations in contention were required to demonstrate their achievements across the key areas of: 

• Organisational culture; 

• Leadership and strategy; 

• Employee education, training and development; 

• Employee health, safety and satisfaction; 

• Performance management; and, 

• Recognition and remuneration. 

Entries were then assessed through a ‘rigorous and dynamic framework’ consisting of specialised assessment criteria and sub-criteria, enabling the participating organisations to be benchmarked against world class performance standards.
