Nominations open for 2025 Queensland Children’s Week Awards

by Isabella Southwell

May 09, 2025

Nominations are now open for the 2025 Children’s Week Awards, recognising individuals and organisations across Queensland who go above and beyond to advance the rights and wellbeing of children and young people.

The awards are coordinated by Children’s Rights Queensland and will be presented at the official Children’s Week Launch and Awards celebration on Tuesday 21 October 2025.

Each year, the awards celebrate contributions that promote children’s rights, foster inclusive communities and drive positive change for young people. Community members are invited to nominate individuals, groups or organisations making a meaningful impact in the lives of children across the state.

Honouring champions for children

The awards include four categories, each focused on a different aspect of leadership and advocacy for children’s rights:

  • Young Change Maker Award – for a young person or group making an outstanding contribution to the promotion of children’s rights.
  • QFCC Commissioner’s Award for Community Engagement – for individuals or groups strengthening community connections to advance children’s rights.
  • Children’s Rights Champion of the Year – for outstanding leadership in promoting and safeguarding children’s rights in Queensland.
  • Children’s Rights Education Award – for exceptional achievement in educating others about children’s rights.

Winners will be announced at the Children’s Week Launch in Brisbane, which also marks the start of Children’s Week activities and celebrations across Queensland.

How to nominate

The awards are open to individuals, educators, community groups, services and advocates working to support the rights of children in any setting. Nominations close later this year, with details and deadlines available on the Children’s Rights Queensland website.
