Mandatory national child safety training goes live in February 2026: Register now via Geccko
Early childhood education and care (ECEC) providers and professionals across Australia are being urged to register for Geccko, ahead of the mandatory national child safety training rollout commencing 27 February 2026.
Under the new requirement, all individuals involved in the delivery or governance of early childhood services must complete the training. This includes:
- Approved providers and persons with management or control
- Nominated supervisors and persons in day-to-day charge
- Educators and other staff
- Volunteers
- Students
To access and complete the training, all individuals must have their own personal Geccko account. Shared or generic accounts (e.g. [email protected]) will not meet the system requirements.
The training will only be accessible via personal accounts linked to a unique personal email address to ensure completions are accurately tracked and reported.
Approved providers and centre managers are encouraged to promote early registration across their teams to avoid delays when the training goes live.
How to register
Visit the official Geccko registration page and follow the prompts to set up your personal login.
Log in and check that your contact details are current. If your existing account is shared or uses a generic email, you’ll need to re-register with your own email address.
For full details and support visit the Australian Government Department of Education website.
In preparation for the rollout, the Department of Education is seeking sector volunteers to help test new training features on the Geccko platform.
The team is looking for individuals who:
- Have experience working in early learning environments
- Can provide user feedback on functionality (no technical skills required)
- Are available for 1–2 hour sessions between December and February
To register your interest, email [email protected]
