Grow Into A Reader campaign aims to raise funds for The Pyjama Foundation

QBD Books, the largest Australian-owned and operated book retailer, has partnered with Penguin Random House to launch the national ‘Grow Into A Reader’ campaign in support of The Pyjama Foundation, raising funds throughout July in the leadup to National Pyjama Day.

Grow Into A Reader will see Penguin Random House donate $1 for every book sold from the selected Pyjama Foundation promotional list (appears at the conclusion of this piece).

Throughout the month, customers who purchase one of the selected Penguin Random House children’s titles will also receive a second at half price, making it the perfect time to expand young readers’ libraries.

In addition, proceeds from the sale of every $2.99 Penguin Random House height chart will also be donated. All funds from the joint promotion will go directly towards the Pyjama Foundation to support both National Pyjama Day and The Pyjama Foundation’s ‘Love of Learning Program’.

“At Penguin Random House, we believe in the power of storytelling and education, and through this collaboration, we aim to provide support and educational resources to children in need,” Julie Burland, CEO of Penguin Random House Australia & New Zealand said.

“Together we can foster a love for reading, improve literacy and empower them to dream big. We are proud to support this meaningful initiative and look forward to the positive change we can create together.”

The Love of Learning Program provides children and youth in foster care – Australia’s lowest-performing educational group – the opportunity to change the direction of their lives with learning, life skills and confidence through a one-on-one mentoring program, with National Pyjama Day being one of the most major fundraising events of the year for the Foundation.

All 87 QBD Books store locations across Australia will participate in the National Pyjama Day festivities which will span the entire month of July, and on Friday 19 July QBD staff members will don their fluffiest robes, coziest flannelettes and best (or most ridiculous) slippers in support.

“Planting a seed to help grow the next generation of book lovers is so important to us. Reading books can open a world of opportunities for kids – be it to learn, explore, or escape,”  QBD Books CEO, Nicholas Croydon said.

“Supporting The Pyjama Foundation in partnership with Penguin Random House and their incredible authors is the perfect way to spark this enjoyment.”

Bronwyn Sheehan, Founder and CEO of The Pyjama Foundation thanked both QBD Books and Penguin Random House for championing National Pyjama Day and supporting children in foster care.

“Books open up new worlds, inspire imagination, and build the confidence these children need to thrive. Together, we’re helping to create brighter futures, one book at a time,” she said.
