Fathering Project to host first ever summit in Sydney

The Fathering Project, a leading not for profit organisation which is dedicated to supporting and empowering fathers will host its first ever Fathering Summit on 14 March, 2024, and is recommended for those who support children and families, including those in the early childhood education and care (ECEC) sector.

To be held at Sheraton on the Park in Sydney, the summit aims to bring together experts, thought leaders, and fathers from diverse backgrounds to explore the evolving role of fatherhood in today’s society and to foster discussions on how fathers can positively impact their families and communities.

Australia’s National Children’s Commissioner Anne Hollonds is a keynote speaker, presenting insights into the importance of fatherhood in child development. Professor Natasha Cabrera will deliver a keynote address on exploring the multifaceted contributions of fathers to child development, going beyond traditional breadwinning roles.

The summit will also feature panel sessions led by distinguished moderators such as Geoff Hutchison, covering topics such as creating a legacy of mental health and resilience in families, navigating disadvantage for positive child outcomes, promoting family safety, and redefining masculinity for the benefit of families. Panel members include experts such as Dr. Zac Seidler, Dr. Jodi Richardson, Doug Taylor, and Prof. Michael Flood, among others.

Workshop discussion activities throughout the day will provide attendees with opportunities to engage in interactive sessions focused on addressing gender stereotypes, work-life balance, economic implications, and redefining masculinity.
