Bluey Fest a fun way for ECEC services to show children’s connection to community

Children’s television program Bluey is a firm favourite with children across Australia, and for many early childhood education and care (ECEC) professionals the program has been a powerful way to explore core themes of child development, and to promote positive parenting in a realistic and approachable way.
To celebrate five years of the program, the ABC has announced a ‘Bluey Fest’, calling on all Australians to vote for their top five episodes of Australia’s #1 TV series via the ABC Kids website ahead of the Biggest Little Bluey Countdown on Sunday 19 November.
On the ‘big day’ (19 November), Bluey is taking over ABC Kids with Australia’s top 100 Bluey episodes as voted by the audience airing from 6am, with the #1 episode revealed at 7.20pm AEDT.
For children and families in New South Wales and Queensland, Bluey Fest will also be sending a Bluey ice cream van from Sydney to Brisbane to “spread some Bluey magic”.
The Bluey ice cream van will be stopping at:
- Sydney – Thursday 26 October
- Newcastle – Saturday 28 October
- Forster – Sunday 29 October
- Coffs Harbour – Tuesday 31 October
- Lismore – Thursday 2 November
- Gold Coast – Saturday 4 November
- Brisbane – Sunday 5 November
The ABC Kids Community Facebook page will post times and exact locations in each town.
Bluey is created by creator/showrunner Joe Brumm, Emmy® awarding-winning executive producers Charlie Aspinwall and Daley Pearson, producer Sam Moor and supervising director Richard Jeffery. The series is executive produced by Libbie Doherty, ABC Head of Children and Family, and Henrietta Hurford-Jones, Director of Children’s Content for BBC Studios.
Bluey is a Ludo Studio production for ABC Kids. Principal production investment from BBC Studios, in association with the ABC and Screen Australia. Post production, digital and visual effects work is undertaken in Queensland with funding from the Queensland Government through Screen Queensland and the Australian Government.
