The provider approval process is changing from July. Here’s what you need to know
From July 2023, the Department of Education will simplify the process for becoming an approved early childhood education and care (ECEC) provider.
Once live, the changes will mean that prospective providers can apply for the Child Care Subsidy (CCS) and National Law approval in one place.
Providers require both approvals to operate and offer an ECEC service that has CCS, however under the current system prospective providers must prepare and submit each application via separate platforms.
From July, providers can submit both applications through the National Quality Agenda IT System (NQA ITS). Applications can then be assessed by state and territory regulatory authorities and the Australian Government at the same time.
The streamlined process will also apply to existing providers applying for a new service. A new e-learning course will be offered at that time to help applicants understand their obligations before they apply.
It is anticipated that these changes will reduce the administrative burden on applicants and streamline assessment.
