Free disability toolkit supports businesses to be fully inclusive
Businesses and organisations who run programs for children have been encouraged to access the ‘Inclusion is Everyone’s Business – Online Toolkit’ which has been developed with funding from the Department of Social Services’ Information, Linkage and Capacity Building (ILC) grant.
The toolkit is filled with practical tips and resources to help organisations and individuals to feel more confident and knowledgeable about ways to include children with disabilities and developmental delay.
The tips and resources were developed with input from La Trobe University allied health students, and in consultation with an advisory group consisting of business representatives and families with lived experience of disability.
Tip sheets, resources and editable templates that are practical and easy to apply in any service or program for children are available in the free toolkit, which are designed to help build the knowledge of teams, so children with disabilities and developmental delay can experience inclusive and meaningful participation in their areas of interest and in the community.
Also included in the toolkit are real-life, positive stories of experiences children and their families have had with inclusive programs, with descriptions of what organisations did to make their programs inclusive.
