Edge Early Learning’s Lavinia Robinson holds back tears on learning of Top Childcare Worker win

Lavinia Robinson was honoured to learn she had been named as the Top Childcare Worker in the City of Logan, South East Queensland. 

 

Ms Robinson, who works for Edge Early Learning Centre Waterford West as the Director said she was holding back tears of joy and was shocked when she found out she had won this year’s prestigious award.

 

More than 300 people entered the city’s best childcare worker competition and many nominations from all corners of Logan were received. 

 

“We only took over from Kids Corner in November last year so I was never expecting to come so far so quickly,” Ms Robinson said, saying the win was “testament to my staff and the parents in the area, who have backed me the whole way.”

 

“Even though we are a fairly small centre, with 69 places, I have made sure that I have 15 educators who are all dedicated and involved,” she explained. 

 

Ms Robinson has been working in the sector for 25 years and began her career as an in-centre cook before completing an apprenticeship, undertaking a degree, becoming an educator, a coordinator and finally taking on a director role at Edge Early Learning Waterford West.
