Grants available to support Victorian’s to celebrate Children’s Week

The Victorian Government is supporting local councils and not-for-profit organisations with grants for fun and free educational activities to celebrate Children’s Week, held in late October.

Almost $100,000 in grants will be distributed to help the recipients celebrate (in a COVID-19 safe manner) in their communities, through events such as online art exhibitions, dance workshops, arts and crafts lessons, musical and story-telling performances, drawing competitions and, where possible, outdoor events.

All online activities will be held with cyber-safety in mind and any in-person activity will be subject to public health advice and the epidemiology of the time.

“Local councils and organisations in Victoria have embraced the challenge to think creatively about how to host activities and events to engage children and their communities amid the challenges presented by the pandemic,” Victorian Minister for Early Childhood Ingrid Stitt said.

Member for Yuroke Ros Spence visited Attwood House Community Centre, who will use its $500 grant to host an international teddy bear picnic, preparing and sharing healthy snacks and foods from around the world.

“Children’s Week is a wonderful opportunity to celebrate the lives, talents and achievements of Victorian children, especially those in Yuroke,” Ms Spence said.
