SA senator welcomes $250,000 funding boost for Fleurieu Peninsula ECEC
South Australian Senator Andrew McLachlan has welcomed more than $250,000 in funding for early childhood education and care (ECEC) services on the Fleurieu Peninsula.
Encounter Lutheran College ($97,502), Yankalilla Area School ($87,000) and Mount Compass Area School ($67,780) have each received funding through the Federal Government’s Community Child Care Fund (CCCF), which aims to improve access to child care and increase workforce participation in remote, regional and disadvantaged communities.
The funding, Senator McLachlan said, was welcomed as a win for the region.
“This funding is vital for our hard-working families and their children residing in rural and regional parts of South Australia,” Senator McLachlan told local publication The Times.
“It will also have a positive economic benefit by allowing more local parents to get back into work or to take on additional hours if they choose.”
As part of the CCCF program, more than $100 million has been assigned to about 640 child care services across Australia.
More information on the Community Child Care Fund can be found on the Department of Education, Skills and Employment website.
