Strengthening practice through collaboration

In 2023, Goodstart Red Hill shared a vision to elevate practice, leadership, and professional collaboration in the early learning sector. The result was the creation of the “excellent network”, a space for services committed to reflective practice, sector uplift, and striving for excellence.
Since its formation, the excellent network has operated as a supportive and intentional group of critical friends. The purpose is simple yet powerful to walk alongside one another in professional journeys, challenge respectfully, and grow together as leaders and educators.
The network has met several times, each meeting fostering robust dialogue, shared learning, and a stronger sense of purpose. They have delved into themes that matter deeply to early learning professionals, governance, pedagogy, community relationships, and reflective leadership.
For the first time, the excellent network is opening the network meeting to the broader early childhood education and care sector.
First open meeting will be held Tuesday 6 May 2025, from 12:00–1:00 pm AEST with the topic being, place based reconciliation and how this critical work can be thoughtfully embedded into practice to support service excellence.
During the session, exploration on how authentic engagement with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities can contribute meaningfully to a service’s journey toward excellence. Discussions will occur related to practices that promote connection, equity, and truth telling in early learning settings.
Practical insights will be discussed to support services preparing applications for an Excellent rating, looking at how reconciliation and community led practice can strengthen and better reflect service’s values and commitment to continuous improvement.
Educators, leaders, approved providers, or policy professionals are invited to share, learn, and grow in a supportive and visionary space.
