MindChamps brings first bilingual early learning centre to Sydney’s Chatswood

Global early childhood education and care (ECEC) provider MindChamps has launched its first bilingual (English/Mandarin) Early Learning Centre in the Sydney suburb of Chatswood.
Open to students of any language-speaking background, the provider believes that exposure to the bilingual learning environment will enhance children’s cognitive development, executive function, and problem-solving skills.
“We are delighted to bring the tremendous benefits of our immersive bilingual programme to the children and families of Chatswood,” MindChamps’ Founder, Executive Chairman and Group CEO, David Chiem said.
According to the Australian Bureau of Statistics, more than 5.3 million Australians speak a language other than English at home, with Mandarin being the second most-spoken language in the country.
“Children will learn one of the world’s fastest growing languages and develop an appreciation of Chinese culture alongside MindChamps’ revolutionary 3-Mind model of education, the Champion, Learning and Creative Mind,” Mr Chiem added.
MindChamps is leveraging over a quarter of a century of research and the success of its internationally recognised English-Mandarin bilingual preschool programme in Singapore, to provide children the opportunity to be immersed in a rich bilingual learning environment.
“Research has shown that children exposed to an immersive bilingual learning environment like we are providing, enjoy amazing benefits, including enhanced executive function, a set of skills that includes working memory, flexible thinking and task switching, improved conflict resolution and problem-solving skills, increased empathy and engagement and even greater English proficiency, including reading and writing,” Mr Chiem added.
“What’s more, it has been proven that multilingualism helps protect the brain, keeping it sharper for longer.”
