The Victorian branch of the Australian Childcare Alliance (ACA Victoria) will bring together a cohort of inspiring keynote speakers in August to support early childhood education and care (ECEC) professionals to navigate the challenging behaviours they encounter from children and adults.

The two day conference event, which takes place 23 and 24 August at Melbourne’s Pullman on the Park, includes a variety of keynote presentations and breakout sessions which address core topics around behaviour including:

  • inclusivity for children with developmental delay or disability,
  • translating the science of child development to practical strategies to support children,
  • managing ‘meltdowns’,
  • understanding children’s emotional intelligence and resilience,
  • how connectivity and compassion can inform child trauma-based behaviour.

Along with the professional learning program, the conference includes a gala dinner which will include a three course meal, entertainment, and lucky door prizes as well as the opportunity for attendees to connect with peers, educators, providers and sector leaders from across the country to share their experiences and exchange ideas.

“We understand that navigating the complexities of behaviour in children, and adults, requires ECEC professionals to be focused, patient, strong and understanding,” Spokesperson said.

“No matter how compassionate and open we are, there is always room to improve how we respond and support children’s behaviours in our services.”

Renowned experts in ECEC including Dr Justin Coulson, Dr Billy Garvey, Lael Stone and Catharine Hydon will set the tone for the event, exploring a range of topics that will transform the way attendees understand and respond to children’s and adult’s behaviours.

For those who register for the conference before 30 June, there is the chance to win a complimentary one night stay at the luxurious Pullman Melbourne on the Park.
