CLA brings child psychologists to Moranbah for professional development workshop

The Childcare Leadership Alliance (CLA) recently held a professional development event to support early childhood educators in Queensland’s Isaac Region, bringing Dr Louise Porter to the community to lead a session on effective strategies to support children’s emotional well-being and promote positive behaviours.
The one-day ‘Supporting Children’s Behaviour,’ workshop took place on Saturday, 2 September 2023, at Moranbah State High School in Moranbah Queensland.
Dr Porter is a highly experienced child psychologist with over 40 years of expertise in children’s developmental and social-emotional challenges, and travelled to Moranbah to share her knowledge with educators and those working with children in the Isaac Region.
The workshop aimed to empower participants with effective strategies to support children’s emotional well-being and promote positive behaviours and covered preventative measures to address behavioural difficulties. Dr Porter also shared techniques to tackle challenging behaviour effectively.
Representatives from CLA extended their gratitude to all participants and to Dr Louise Porter for making the workshop a success.
The CLA Professional Development initiative encompasses both local, in-person events and online resources, designed to meet the unique needs of educators in regional areas. The CLA believes that by providing the necessary tools, it can help to promote a positive workplace culture and open doors to continuous development opportunities for Regional Early Years educators.
“Our hope is to empower educators to incorporate the distinctive aspects of their local communities into their programs, fostering a genuine partnership with and support for families and children,” said CLA Project Manager Melissa Comerford.
