Applications for Children’s Week grants now open for Queensland services

Children’s Rights Queensland is offering grants of up to $500 to non-government groups and organisations, to help them deliver a celebration or project that raises awareness of children’s rights during Children’s Week 2023.
Children’s Week will be held from 21–29 October 2023. The week is an opportunity to celebrate the right of children to enjoy childhood. Children’s Week is celebrated every year across Australia with a diverse range of events and activities organised at National, State and Local levels to celebrate the rights of children to enjoy childhood, and for the wider community to rejoice in their talents, skills, and abilities.
The Children’s Week National Theme for 2023 is based on UNCRC Article 31: Children have the right to relax, play and to join in a wide range of leisure activities.
Organisations based in Queensland can apply, including groups such as playgroups, neighbourhood centres, childcare and women’s centres, parents, friends and citizen’s associations or youth centres.
Grants of up to $500 are available and can be for new or existing celebrations or projects.
“Music and concerts, playgroup celebrations, trivia and games, walks and fun runs, dress-up days, online events – the options are bound by the limits of your imagination!” said Children’s Rights Queensland President Dan Marais.
Celebrations and projects need to promote community involvement and help to increase awareness of the needs, interests, rights or achievements of children.
Events must take place during Queensland Children’s Week, or a week on either side.
Applications close Friday 3 September 2023. To get involved, visit childrensrightsqld.org.au
