The winners of the 2022 G8 Education National Standout Educator Awards have been announced, recognising outstanding practice, safety, community engagement, family engagement and sustainability.

Competition for the six winning professionals and services, who were selected from 10,000 educators, teachers and support teams across the country, was tough, with each winner being complimented for having “lived and breathed the G8 Education values and displaying a strength of character and purpose that had an impact not just amongst the children in their care but their families and the broader community.”

Juliet Davis from Great Beginnings Secret Harbour is a second time winner in the sustainability category, having first been recognised in G8 Education’s 2020 awards.

“Juliet is passionate about educating people about sustainability which is so powerful in an early learning setting where we are educating our future generations,” said G8 Education Area Manager Candice Kaye.

“Her practices, impact and passion will be felt within the Secret Harbour community for decades to come.”

Ms Davis has implemented a number of changes at centre level, such as no longer purchasing laminating pouches, reducing the amount of plastic which comes into the centre, and no longer using glitter, a harmful micro plastic that causes significant harm to our sea animals if it gets into waterways.

“I am thrilled to once again be recognized for the work that I do in the area of sustainability – my greatest passion in life,” she said.

“I see no limit on what we can do as a sector to care for the environment and to reduce our impact on the planet.”
