Canberra ECEC employee charged with assault against children

A 28 year old early childhood education and care (ECEC) professional has been charged with indecent assault following allegations relating to three children in his care.
Police received reports from two parents in May 2022 regarding alleged indecent assaults that had been committed against their children while attending a Canberra long day care facility.
Following an investigation by ACT Policing’s Sexual Assault and Child Abuse team, a 28-year-old Scullin man was arrested on Sunday, 29 May 2022.
Subsequent to his arrest the man was charged with two counts of acts of indecency against a child under 10 years and one count of common assault. His employment at the child-care facility had recently been terminated.
Support is being provided to the facility, and to the families involved. Police reminded any victim of sexual violence that they can contact ACT Policing to report the matter on 131 444, attend a police station or report historical matters online through the ACT Policing website.
