VIT shares Code of Conduct supporter pack to support services to work under new Code
The Victorian Institute of Teaching (VIT) has shared materials designed to support educational leaders to engage with the revised Victorian Teaching Profession’s Code of Conduct, including a presentation and guiding notes to facilitate a workshop to support all staff to be familiar with the Code and its expectations.
To ensure that all staff are across the expectations, VIT recommends that services run a one-hour workshop using the support pack which includes:
- The revised Victorian Teaching Profession’s Code of Conduct
- The Victorian Teaching Profession’s Code of Ethics
- A PowerPoint presentation and guiding notes to facilitate the workshop
- Case studies to explore in the workshop (services may wish to focus only on those of most relevance to your education setting).
The support pack contains information and case studies which may be relevant/appropriate to all settings and audiences, and as such, services are encouraged to select those which best fit their setting and circumstances.
A number of hypothetical case study videos have also been provided to stimulate discussion about what is (and is not) considered to be appropriate professional and personal conduct for teachers, as well as appropriate strategies to prevent inappropriate conduct.
There are also a number of podcasts available which feature discussions with a VIT lawyer about topics such as professional boundaries with learners, personal conduct and more.
For further information, or responses to questions related to the Code, please contact VIT via email to [email protected]
