Childcare management software provider Xplor has confirmed that it has agreed to acquire New Zealand based childcare administration management software provider Discover, in its first significant international acquisition in education.

Discover, founded in 2016, currently serves around 1,500 child care providers across all aspects of New Zealand’s early years sector including long day care, kindergartens and home based care (family day care) providing an end to end management solution that includes enrolments, waitlists, rostering and ratios, visitor tracking, inquiries and marketing, payments and more.

The acquisition will see Xplor gain a foothold in the NZ market for the first time and provide a platform to integrate its current Playground, Home and Space apps into the Discover ecosystem.

“The addition of Discover to the Xplor family makes our education lineup even better, and will bring free apps enabling centres to better connect with families, technology helping educators to deliver high-quality education, and a new marketplace to drive greater occupancy for childcare centres,” Mark Woodland, CEO of Education for Xplor outlined.

“Xplor’s deep commitment to educators, children, families and the early education sector is something special, and we’re excited to be bringing these new solutions to our customers and their families,” said Ewart MacLucas, Founder and CEO of Discover.

Post the acquisition, Xplor, which was purchased by New Zealand based payments company TSG in 2020 and currently operates within the Education vertical of the larger business, will have more than 8,500 customers across its three brands, namely, Xplor, QikKids and now Discover.

“We’re bringing together these extraordinary teams so we can continue to build the most innovative, world-class, early education products and services, and give more children access to a wide range of education options,” Mr Woodland added.
