Local MP welcomes upgraded facilities for Penrith’s youngest learners
More preschoolers in Penrith will have access to upgraded early childhood learning facilities, thanks to the New South Wales Government’s Quality Learning Environments program, Member for Penrith, Stuart Ayres, announced recently.
Both Rainbow Cottage Children’s Centre and Western Sydney University (WSU) Early Learning will each receive a grant $10,000, Mr Ayres said.
Rainbow Cottage Children’s Centre will use the funding towards an outdoor playground while WSU Early Learning will install sunshade over their deck and install a new mud kitchen.
Commenting on the award of the Grants, NSW Minister for Education and Early Childhood Learning, Sarah Mitchell, said it is crucial to continue to invest in the State’s youngest learners.
“Research shows the cognitive, social and emotional benefits a quality early childhood education has on our children, so it is important that as a Government we continue to make these important investments,” Ms Mitchell said.
“Our future doctors, lawyers, farmers and teachers are being shaped in our preschools and long day care centres as we speak, so an investment in them really is an investment in our future.”
