The Y WA welcomes three new Directors to its Board

November 27, 2025

The Y WA is pleased to announce the appointment of three new Directors to its Board: Jacinda Papps, James Massie-Taylor, and Margaret Collins. Each brings a wealth of experience, diverse perspectives, and strong personal commitment to advancing the Y’s purpose of empowering young people and building connected, resilient communities across Western Australia.

As a community not-for-profit organisation that has been serving Western Australians for over 100 years, the Y WA continues to evolve with a clear focus on social impact. Guided by a framework grounded in positive psychology, the Y supports young people to flourish through four key outcomes — belonging, competence, independence, and connectedness.

Jacinda Papps – Director

Jacinda is the General Manager of Regulatory Affairs and Compliance at a leading energy organisation, with extensive experience across policy, governance, regulatory affairs, compliance, and stakeholder engagement in the energy and resources sectors. She has held senior roles in both regulatory and commercial environments and is a strong advocate for transparent decision-making and responsible development.

Jacinda also serves on several boards and advisory committees, including within the youth and community sporting sectors. “Young people deserve to feel safe, supported and empowered,” Jacinda said. “As a Director of the Y WA, I am committed to ensuring our governance and decision-making reflect these values, and that every young person has the opportunity to reach their full potential.”

James Massie-Taylor – Director

James is the Office Managing Partner at BDO in Perth and a Corporate & International Tax Partner with more than 23 years’ experience advising businesses on complex financial and structural matters. A strategic and values-driven leader, James is recognised for his ability to simplify complexity, foster collaboration, and guide organisations through growth and change.

He has played a key role in driving innovation, community engagement, and professional excellence across BDO, and his commitment to integrity, inclusion, and sustainable success aligns closely with the Y’s mission. “I believe every young person deserves the chance to grow with confidence, surrounded by people and places that empower them to thrive,” James said. “Joining the Y WA Board allows me to contribute to an organisation that not only safeguards children and young people, but actively champions their voices, potential, and leadership in shaping a stronger, more inclusive community.”

Margaret Collins – Director

Margaret brings a distinguished 40-year career in education, during which she held positions as Deputy Principal and Principal before progressing to senior leadership roles including Director and Executive Director of Schools in the Government School system.

Her experience in policy development and governance is complemented by her dedication to quality education and care for all students. Margaret has served as Chair of the St Francis School Board for seven years and has a particular interest in CARE schools and the provision of excellent schooling options for students facing challenges.

The Y WA Board President Eva Lin said, “We are delighted to welcome Jacinda, James and Margaret to our Board. Each brings a unique blend of expertise, leadership and passion that will strengthen our capacity to deliver meaningful impact for young people and communities across Western Australia.”
