Queensland childcare service suspended amid serious compliance concerns

A centre-based early learning service in Brisbane has had its service approval suspended after the Regulatory Authority identified serious breaches of the National Law and Regulations.

The service, Bright Days, is operated by Bright Days Herston Pty Ltd. As the approved provider, the company is now subject to a three-month suspension effective from close of business on 15 August 2025.

The Department of Education confirmed the enforcement action via the Register of Published Enforcement Actions, citing that the service was not being managed in accordance with the Education and Care Services National Law and the Education and Care Services National Regulations. Furthermore, the provider had failed to comply with multiple directions, compliance notices and an emergency order issued under the National Law.

The Regulatory Authority determined that these breaches posed an immediate risk to the safety, health and wellbeing of children attending the service. Due to the urgency and seriousness of the concerns, the suspension was enacted without a show cause process, as permitted under the legislation.

During the suspension period, which runs until 14 November 2025 unless otherwise determined, the approved provider is not permitted to operate the service.

The enforcement action highlights the regulatory processes in place under the National Quality Framework to respond to concerns about compliance and ensure the safety, health and wellbeing of children in early learning environments.
