Redbank Plains tops Queensland list for under-5 population

Redbank Plains has proven it’s officially top of the tots, with the community ranking the most popular amongst young families in Queensland.
According to new estimated resident population data released by the Australian Bureau of Statistics (ABS) last week, Redbank Plains has Queensland’s highest estimated population of 0 to 4-year-olds amongst the State’s 546 local statistical areas.
2,588 under-5s called Redbank Plains home in 2024, up from 1,095 in 2008 when Queensland Childcare Services’ Redbank Plains Early Education Centre first opened.
QCCS General Manager Laura Faalili said the Centre had grown significantly in line with local population growth and diversity.
“I believe families with small children are choosing Redbank Plains due to the affordability of homes, convenience to both Ipswich and Brisbane, and the diverse, welcoming community that has grown over the years,” Ms Faalili said.
“The local area offers many child-friendly spaces, amenities and conveniences for young families, as well as easily-accessible transport options.
“Redbank Plains Early Education Centre is proud to be part of the quality educational options for local families, and to contribute to the learning and developmental needs of our young people.”
Last week’s ABS data showed Queensland’s population of 0 to 4-year-olds numbered 308,649 in 2024, with Springfield Lakes ranked second most populous area with 2,354 under 5s, and Murrumba Downs, Griffin, Boronia Heights, Park Ridge and Ripley rounding out the top five.
According to Centre Director Sheree Berg, Redbank Plains Early Education Centre places strong emphasis on embracing the diversity of the local community and enrolled children.
“Our educators are passionate about creating activities and learning experiences through which we can share many cultures and interests,” Ms Berg said.
“We also have a keen focus on teaching children the importance of the environment and sustainability within our daily routines, and fostering a love of nature through our outdoor classroom, rich with natural elements, timber forts, bush gardens and native surroundings.”
Redbank Plains Early Education Centre opened its doors in November 2008 and is set to celebrate its 17th anniversary later this year.
Redbank Plains Early Education Centre is proud to offer a range of programs designed to extend children’s interests and enrich their learning journey. These opportunities not only build skills and confidence but also inspire a love of learning that extends well beyond the classroom.
