Glenorchy Child and Family Learning Centre now officially open

The Glenorchy Child and Family Learning Centre (CFLC) is now officially open and is providing services and support for both expectant parents and families with children aged birth to five years of age, living in Tasmanian suburbs between Rosetta and Moonah.
“CFLCs offer local families with young children a place to belong and build strong community connections,” Tasmanian Minister for Education, Jo Palmer, said, outlining the value of CFLCs in providing a safe, supportive, and welcoming space for children and their families.
“Like all our CFLCs, the Glenorchy centre has been community-led from the very beginning,” she continued, “with a Local Enabling Group of service providers, parents and community members involved in its development and design.”
“We’re already seeing the positive impact it’s having on the local community, with over 40 families visiting each day since it opened its doors last month.”
“Glenorchy is the last of the six centres to be delivered across the State as part of our $28 million commitment, bringing the total number of CFLCs in Tasmania to 18.”
The local community has responded well to the service opening, and are excited about having a place to connect and access a range of services, Liberal Member for Clark, Simon Behrakis added.
“The CFLC’s wraparound services and support that are offered to local families include access to psychologists, speech pathologists and social workers, and will make a positive difference to our community,” Mr Behrakis said.
“I’d like to thank the Local Enabling Group, along with design and building contractors for their input and work in establishing such a valuable and welcoming facility for young families in the Northern Suburbs.”
Through its 2030 Strong Plan for Tasmania’s Future, the Tasmanian Government is investing $32 million to deliver a further four new supersized CFLCs statewide.
