Bumper Queensland TAFE enrolments 

More than 100,000 Queenslanders have taken advantage of the Federal Government’s Free TAFE program, with early childhood education and care (ECEC) courses amongst the most popular. 

The latest data shows that there were more than 109,000 enrolments across the sunshine state between January 2023 and September 2024, more than 6,300 of which were in ECEC. Other popular choices include Construction, Care, Manufacturing and the Technology and Digital sector. 

Under the popular scheme a student wishing to study a Certificate III in Early Childhood Education and Care can save up to $955.

“As I travel around Queensland, at every TAFE I visit, I meet students that tell me what a life changer Free TAFE has been for them,” Federal Minister for Skills and Training, Andrew Giles said. 

“Free TAFE is providing an accessible pathway to secure work and cost-of-living relief to more than 100,000 Queenslanders. The Albanese Government is committed to building the future of our country which is why we’ve proposed legislation to make Free TAFE enduring.”
