Goodstart remembers founding board member Lynne Wannan AM
In a statement published yesterday Goodstart Early Learning has expressed their sadness at the passing of Lynne Wannan AM, a founding Board Member of the organisation.
Ms Wannan joined Goodstart in September 2010 as a non executive director and served on the Remuneration and Nominations Committee and Early Learning and Care Reference Committees during her tenure before transitioning off the Board in late 2018.
Prior to joining Goodstart Ms Wannan had a diverse career in Government at State and Local levels and as a board member across the education and social policy fields in Government and the community sectors.
Some of her more prominent positions included, but were not limited to, Chair at Community Child Care Victoria and the National Association of Community Based Children’s Services; Deputy Chancellor at Victoria University of Technology; Chair of the Adult Community and Further Education Board; Commissioner at Victorian Skills Commission and a member of the Victorian Qualifications Authority (VCA).
Ms Wannan also served as the Director of the Office for the Community Sector, Department of Planning and Community Development, Victoria until early 2016 and was recognised with an Australia Day award in 2007 for her leadership in community services and education.
Commenting on Ms Wannon’s contribution to Goodstart Chief Executive Officer Julia Davison noted “Lynne’s passionate, supportive and thoughtful approach during her time with Goodstart ensured she made a long-lasting and positive impact on the organisation.”
Ms Davision went on to say that “We are very sad to hear of Lynne’s passing and we will work to find a way to acknowledge her contribution to Goodstart which honours her deep commitment to children and to education.”
Ms Wannan was diagnosed with cancer in 2013 and continued to contribute to the many organisations she was involved with whilst receiving treatment for her illness.
