Strong Foundations program enters Phase 1 of implementation in the ACT
The Australian Capital Territory Government’s Strong Foundations program is in Phase 1 of implementation, with extra funding given for early years classroom resources from preschool through to Year 2.
The grant funding will be issued to all ACT public schools with preschool to Year 2 students enrolled, supporting schools to buy additional evidence-informed literacy and numeracy resources for early years students.
These resources will be in place for preschool to year 2 classrooms for the start of the 2025 school year, and include decodable readers and maths resources which have been designed to support both students and teachers.
Teachers will be trained on how to use these resources in the classroom, with the intention of enhancing and improving early years education in ACT public schools, as well as providing parents with more confidence that their child’s school is sufficiently resourced to provide evidence-informed literacy and numeracy education.
