The New South Wales Department of Education hosted 200 early childhood education and care professionals in its Parramatta headquarters yesterday as part of the popular ‘ECE Connect On the Road’ series.

‘ECE Connect On the Road’ sees Department leaders meet face-to-face with early childhood professionals, allowing the leaders to hear directly from the early learning sector across NSW.

Following the Parramatta event ‘ECE Connect On the Road’ will head to Shell Cove in the Illawarra on 24 October and Queanbeyan on 29 October.

“ECE Connect On the Road gives us the chance to listen to the sector and answer any questions in person about reforms, as well as provide updates on policy initiatives, programs, and funding,” Deputy Secretary of Early Childhood Outcomes, Mark Barraket explained.

“It’s an opportunity to build on the success of the sector to ensure that every child gets the best start in life by working together as a community dedicated to early learning.”

During these events participants hear more about the Transition to School Digital Statement and the NSW Government’s plans to build 100 new public preschools by 2027.

The NSW Government has committed to building 49 of the public preschools in regional and rural New South Wales, and 51 in western Sydney.

Also present at the sessions is the NSW ECEC Regulatory Authority who speak on a range of issues with a strong focus on child safety.

Educators, providers and ECEC sector experts also have the opportunity to liaise with Department leaders during a series of roundtable discussions held throughout the day on topics including assessment and rating, local support, transition to school, and quality practice and regulatory support.

‘ECE Connect On the Road’ runs alongside ‘ECE Connect Online’ throughout the year, where webinar sessions are broadcast to attendees online. More than 31,000 people have registered to attend 51 sessions since 2023.
