Tasmanian government to conduct survey to shape the future of OSHC

The Tasmanian Government will survey schools about their interest and needs when it comes to Outside School Hours Care (OSHC) as part of its 2030 Strong Plan for Tasmania’s Future.
“OSHC services are already available at more than half of the primary and district schools in Tasmania, providing many families with the care they need for children aged between 5 and 12,” Tasmania’s Minister for Education Jo Palmer said.
“The survey is being undertaken to identify opportunities for expansion at schools that don’t currently have out of hours care available.”
The initial survey, designed for completion by schools, will serve as a preliminary scan of current capacities and interests, which will then form the basis for more detailed engagements with families and communities, ensuring the expansion aligns with the needs and expectations of the community.
A comprehensive property audit is also being conducted to identify government land that could be used for the expansion of Early Childhood and Care services, as part of the 2030 Strong Plan for Tasmania’s Future.
