Victoria opens Early Childhood Provisionally Registered Teacher Grants Program
Applications are now open for the 2023-2024 Early Childhood Provisionally Registered Teacher (PRT) Grants Program.
The PRT Grants Program helps approved early childhood providers in Victoria to move provisionally registered early childhood teachers (PRTs) to full registration with the Victorian Institute of Teaching (VIT).
Moving from provisional to full registration is an important step in a teacher’s career and demonstrates their proficiency against the Australian Professional Standards for Teachers. Since the PRT program began in 2019, more than 2,500 grants have been awarded.
In the 2023-24 PRT Grants Program, approved providers can apply for funding of $2,872 (excluding GST) per teacher, through one or both of the below funding streams in the same application form:
- Funding Stream A: Funding sought by approved providers to support one or more PRTs in their employ to move to full registration with the VIT in the next 12 months.
- Funding Stream B: Funding sought by approved providers as a reimbursement for costs incurred while supporting one or more ECTs in their employ (at a funded early childhood service) to move to full registration with the VIT between April 2023 and April 2024. Providers are advised that this funding stream is only available for this grant round, due to only one grant round being offered in 2023-24.
Applications opened: 9am (AEST) on Tuesday 30 April 2024
Applications close: 5pm (AEST) on Friday 17 May 2024
