Geelong Giving Tree Appeal helped by ECEC services in the community

Despite the challenging economic climate faced by many in Victoria’s Geelong community, the spirit of giving is in full force, with early childhood education and care (ECEC) services in the area joining local organisations, businesses, schools, kindergartens and individuals to share kindness this Christmas.

Around 1900 people will be supported through the Geelong Giving Tree Appeal which has raised more than $130,000 to support individuals and families seeking support through Meli, the Sexual Assault & Family Violence Centre and other organisations across the region.

Meli CEO Grant Boyd thanked all those who have contributed to the appeal, including those who bought a Kindness Chocolate, ran a fundraiser at their business or kinder and, of course, to Meli’s incredibly generous partners.

“Meli, alongside other local organisations, will be able to support more households than ever before, ensuring a brighter festive season for those in our community who need it most,” he said.

“We are lucky to live in such a kind community that is the Geelong region.”

Helen Bolton, CEO of The Sexual Assault & Family Violence Centre, also applauded the generosity of the Geelong region which she said had made an incredible impact for adults and children seeking their services.

“We share our heartfelt appreciation to the community, our partners and fundraisers who have gone above and beyond in supporting the Geelong Giving Tree Appeal,” she said.

“With your support, we are able to share with our clients a sense of community and connection this Christmas.”
