Debra Singh appointed Chairperson of G8 Education
G8 Education has confirmed that Debra Singh will replace David Foster as the Chair of the Board effective 25 October 2023 and that Mr Foster will remain on the Board until, at the latest, G8’s 2024 Annual General Meeting in May 2024 after which he will retire.
The move is consistent with G8’s commitment to succession planning which sees periodic changes at the chairperson and non executive director level.
Ms Singh joined the Board in November 2021 as a non-executive director filling one of the two roles left by departing Chairperson Mark Johnson and non executive director Susan Forrestor.
Ms Singh is a current non-executive director of ASX-listed Shaver Shop and a director of The Kids Cancer Project Board and has previously held senior leadership roles at Fantastic Holdings, Greenlit Brands and Woolworths.
“I am delighted to assume the role of Chair as we continue to focus on providing the highest quality early education and care to children attending our centres,” Ms Singh said.
“Debra has extensive leadership experience in large-scale distributed networks and has made invaluable contributions to G8 during her current tenure. Debra’s appointment will enable an effective transition of the Board leadership and I very much look forward to continuing to work with Debra in her new role as Chair,” Mr Foster said.
Mr Foster is set to leave the Board after seven and a half years of service with just under two years of his tenure as Chairperson for the Group.
“The Board thanks David Foster for his commitment to G8 and the early learning sector over the last 7.5 years as both director and Chair of G8. David provided leadership and stability through the COVID-19 recovery period, including overseeing the appointment of our new CEO and resetting of the Group’s strategic direction,” Ms Singh said.
G8 confirmed that a search for a new non-executive director will be conducted over the coming months.
