Wanslea expansion in WA to benefit children receiving NDIS funding
Western Australian children with a developmental delay or disability will benefit from a further investment to deliver front line Early Childhood Early Intervention (ECEI) services under the National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS).
The National Disability Insurance Agency (NDIA) has announced Wanslea Family Services as the NDIS Partner in the Community to deliver ECEI services in the North Metro, Central North Metro, and North East Metro Service Areas of Perth.
As a result of the announcement, Wanslea will now support the implementation of NDIS for children aged birth to six years of age at a local community level across a total of nine Western Australian Service Areas: Central South Metro, South Metro, South West, Great Southern, South East Metro, Inner Wheatbelt, North Metro, Central North Metro and North East Metro.
Excluding remote and very remote areas, the appointment of Wanslea marks complete coverage of NDIS Partners in the Community Program across Australia, with the investment set to fund thousands of children and families.
An NDIS spokesperson said that whilst Wanslea establish their services, the NDIA will continue to assist children and families across WA to access appropriate services.
The NDIA provides planning services in the remaining WA regions not impacted by the Wanslea announcement, including: Kimberley, Pilbara, Midwest-Gascoyne, Goldfields, Esperance and Outer Wheatbelt, and is currently reviewing the roll out of ECEI services to these regions.
The NDIA assumed responsibility for the delivery of the NDIS in WA in July 2018. The NDIS will continue to roll out on a geographic basis and will be fully rolled out across Western Australia by 2020 as agreed by governments, the statement said.
