Little Babes ELC St Albans wins Smiles 4 Miles Award

Little Babes Early Learning Centre in St Albans received a Smiles 4 Miles Award from IPC Health recently. 

Smiles 4 Miles is an award program that recognises early childhood services for implementing healthy eating and oral health policies, engaging with families about the importance of oral health, and educating children through a variety of fun learning experiences based on the Smiles 4 Miles key messages – drink well, eat well and clean well. 

A total of 43 centres across Brimbank, Wyndham Vale and Hobson’s Bay are participating in Smiles 4 Miles through IPC Health. Smiles 4 Miles is an initiative of Dental Health Services Victoria (DHSV) and is implemented locally by IPC Health. 

The aim of the program is to improve the oral health of Brimbank’s preschool-aged children and their families by encouraging healthy eating, healthy drinking, and good oral hygiene. 

“Well done to Little Babes Early Learning Centre who worked together with IPC Health’s Smiles 4 Miles Health Promotion Coordinator and getting this approved by DHSV,” said Jayne Nelson, CEO of IPC Health.

Mary Mercuri, Director Little Babes ELC, said the service appreciates the importance of developing healthy habits since this part of early age. 

“Smiles 4 Miles has been a fantastic program which has provided us with necessary resources and information to implement healthier choices at our centre for many years,” she added.
