Narragunnawali Award deadline extended until Friday 12 May

The deadline for applications for the Narragunnawali Reconciliation in Educations Awards 2023 has been extended, giving early childhood education and care (ECEC) services an extra week to showcase their work in the sphere of Reconciliation. 

The Narragunnawali Awards are Australia’s first and only national reconciliation in education awards for schools and early learning services, and winners of the awards will receive a cash prize of $10,000 each to go towards reconciliation initiatives.

Reconciliation Australia CEO Karen Mundine said the Narragunnawali Awards are “an uplifting time for the organisation” and a chance services to showcase the good work happening in schools and early learning services, and to be able to share and celebrate that work more broadly.

The deadline for application submission is now Friday 12 May 2023. To be eligible for the Narragunnawali Awards, schools and early learning services must have a published Narragunnawali Reconciliation Action Plan (RAP).

“The awards show the tangible ways schools and early learning services are strengthening relationships, building respect, and providing meaningful opportunities in the classroom, around the school or service, and with the community,” Ms Mundine said.

Henrietta Banalves is an educator from St Peters Girls’ School’s Early Learning Centre and a finalist in the 2021 Awards.She shares the personal and professional growth she has experienced in the two years since being part of the finalist team.

“It helps you reflect on what you have achieved and what you can improve,” she said. 

“It’s a very positive review of our centre and of our role as early educators, and a beautiful inspiration for the future.” 

To apply for the awards, services should log in to the “Your RAP” section of the website and follow the prompts to apply.
