St Nicholas Muswellbrook supports Upper Hunter Homeless through dress ups

The children, families and educators who make up the St Nicholas Early Education Muswellbrook community recently went all out to support Upper Hunter Homeless Support (UHHS) to make a difference in the lives of those in the region who have experienced homelessness and/or domestic violence.

They hosted a ‘dress-up week’ where children were encouraged to come dressed in their favourite costumes.During dress up week the centre collected donations on behalf of UHHS in the form of towels, utensils, gift cards, toiletries, sanitary items, and other essentials to help ease the burden for vulnerable people in the Upper Hunter.

Mary from UHHS visited the centre to speak with the children about how ordinary people can help vulnerable people get set up with basic housing and essentials.

UHHS provides specialist homelessness services and domestic family violence services to the Singleton, Muswellbrook and Upper Hunter communities, helping single men, single women, women and children, men and children, and youth (both Indigenous and non-Indigenous) who are homeless or at risk of homelessness.

Their services include :

• Assistance in addressing housing needs
• Housing assistance to secure safe affordable accommodation
• Personal support
• Case management
• Support to maintain current tenancy.

UHHS operates a ‘no wrong door’ policy, allowing anyone and everyone to use their service.
