NSW Labor commits to ECEC centres at new primary schools
All new public primary schools built will also include either a pre-school, long day care or outside hours care (OSHC) centre, if New South Wales Labor is elected in March, the party has said.
Michael Daley, NSW Labor Leader, in a statement said that by integrating preschools, long day care centres, OSHC facilities with primary schools, parents will save time by reducing “double drop-offs” and supporting working parents by increasing the availability of early learning and before-and-after-school care services.
In a speech given in the regional town of Googong, south of Queanbeyan, Mr Daley that if he was to become Premier he “will build 50 new schools in the first four years of government, and of course every primary school, just like the one that will be built here in Googong, will have an early learning facility attached to it.”
Further to Mr Daley’s commitment to attaching early childhood education and care services to new public primary schools, he also committed to exempting non-government school construction projects from developer levies to encourage the provision of more new education facilities across the state.
