AERO releases new resources to support ECEC sector

The Australian Education Research Organisation (AERO) has released new resources for the early childhood education and care (ECEC) sector which are designed to support educators to implement “tried and tested” practices to benefit children’s learning and development through everyday activities and moments.
“Our ‘Tried and Tested’ guides cover education practices that have been proven to make a difference to learning outcomes for children and students,” an AERO representative explained.
The guides are written for teachers and educators, supporting ongoing professional development across key evidence-based practices. They can be read individually or together.
Each guide is carefully sequenced, providing a step-by-step outline of how to effectively implement the practices.
For those working in ECEC, three guides are available covering early literacy, early numeracy and executive functioning and self regulation.
New educators and teachers may find the guides useful in supporting them to learn about how to implement certain practices, or for reflecting and refining existing practices.
For experienced educators, the guides may offer new ideas, or be supportive in leading and mentoring others. The guides could also be used in collaborative practice as part of informal or formal professional learning.
The Tried and Tested guides complement and support existing Australian resources such as the Australian Professional Standards for Teaching, the Early Years Learning Framework and guidance offered by schools and systems.
