SDN Ultimo to launch Autism Specific Program to support transition to school

Early childhood education and care (ECEC) provider SDN Children’s Services will launch an Autism Specific program at its Ultimo service designed to support children to transition to school.
The program builds on the success of the SDN Beranga Autism-Specific Preschool in Rooty Hill and will cater for eight children a day on Tuesday – Friday during program delivery time.
Ratios in the program will be 1:4, in comparison to the typical 1:10 ratio in a preschool program, allowing educators to work more intensively with children and prepare them to transition to school.
Each child and family will be supported with an individual approach and the team will work with families to identify their child’s strengths and interests, and develop a plan to help them meet their goals.
Families will be able to access additional therapy that they can fund through their NDIS packages, with SDN’s therapists also available onsite.
“I am thrilled about this program and the benefit we are able to offer to children and their families,” CEO of SDN Children’s Services, Kay Turner said. “This initiative is yet another step forward in our purpose of creating an equitable world where all children thrive.”
SDN Ultimo Autism Specific program is enrolling now, for a late April start. More information is available here.
