More funding for Apprenticeships and Trainees in Tasmania
The Tasmanian Liberal Government is securing more pathways to a rewarding career for more Tasmanians with the latest round of the 2022 Apprentice and Trainee Training Fund (User Choice).
“We want to give young Tasmanians the best start to their working life, as well as enable existing workers to upskill in their existing roles or to retrain in a new field,” said Sarah Courtney, Minister for Skills, Training and Workforce Growth.
Up to $25 million has been allocated to this new round of funding, enabling more opportunities for apprentices and trainees right across the State.
Eligible registered training organisations (RTOs) are invited to apply to the fund to provide subsidised training for apprentices and trainees across the State with the new allocation set to significantly reduce the cost of providing vocational training for apprentices and trainees.
The Fund is designed to build a more highly skilled workforce in Tasmania by giving industry the opportunity to inform the Government about what skills are needed and where they believe funding will make the biggest difference.
The 2021 program has already seen 4,887 places allocated and demonstrates that the Fund is delivering skilled and qualified Tasmanians into jobs and a rewarding career, the Minister said.
With more than 400 nationally recognised qualifications to choose from, apprentice and trainee training is provided through a range of means including on the job, classroom, online, or a combination of these depending on the qualification.
Applications for the 2022 Apprentice and Trainee Training Fund (User Choice) can be made here and should be submitted by 19 November 2021. Enquiries can be directed to the grant manager on 03 6165 6027.
