Goodstart appoints Chief Safety Officer to drive safety culture
Goodstart Early Learning has appointed Chief Safety Officer Matthew Little to lead its safety culture and continue to drive its focus on safety and continuous improvement.
Mr Little joins the organisation with experience in health and safety gained from having worked with national and global organisations in a range of sectors including power manufacturing, engineering, retail, construction and entertainment.
In addition to his experience, he holds qualifications in safety with a behavioural science focus which he uses to design, lead and deliver safe workplace cultures.
Commenting on the appointment Goodstart CEO Julia Davison said the newly designed position was established to set new safety benchmarks to ensure children and adults are safe, healthy and well at Goodstart.
“Matthew’s appointment demonstrates our deep commitment to ensure our organisation becomes the best at getting better when it comes to safety,” she added.
Matthew will be supported by an expanding team of health, safety and well-being experts to ensure every child and every Goodstart employee is safe and well.
Mr Little said he was proud to be joining an organisation with such a deep and genuine commitment to safety, health and well-being.
“I won’t be doing this work alone, building on incredible work already underway by our team of safety, health and well-being experts and working closely with our educators and teachers across the nation,” he added.
“Our safety culture and engagement will be a heightened focus, especially creating psychologically safe workplaces to support Goodstarters and their well-being as we continue to navigate the tolls of COVID-19.”
To begin the important journey toward greater knowledge sharing across the early learning sector Mr Little and his safety, health and well-being team has developed and launched a Safety App which was shared earlier this week.
