Portland’s Blinky Bill Childcare Centre thankful for QLE grant
Children and families utilising care and education at Portland’s Blinky Bill Childcare Centre will benefit from a $15,000 grant from the State Government as part of the $11 million announced for preschool and day care centres across New South Wales to improve their services under the Quality Learning Environments Grant program.
Local MP Paul Toole called in to see director Tanya Rue and announce the centre would receive the $15,000 grant which is part of the broader QLE program which provides not-for-profit community and mobile preschools and not-for-profit long day care services up to $15,000 to purchase resources and activities which improve physical or educational learning environments.
Blinky Bill’s will use the funding to make improvements to its composting set-up, eating areas and decking as well as a fresh coat of paint on the interior and exterior of the centre.
“The QLE grants are greatly welcomed in the community, especially after a tough year with drought, fire and COVID-19 for early childhood services,” he told local publication Lithgow Mercury.
“Early childhood education is incredibly important and these grants will help educators provide high quality learning environments for our children,” he added.
