New CEO Verity Hawkins commences with Playgroup Australia

The Board of Playgroup Australia has welcomed the commencement of new CEO Verity Hawkins, who commenced in the role at the beginning of December, having previously worked with a number of nationally federated organisations in the community sector.
Passionate about the role of playgroups in early childhood development, Ms Hawkins is tasked with leading transformational work for the Playgroup movement, drawing on the skills and passion of staff, members and partnerships for important collaboration projects across the sector.
Since relocating to Canberra from Sydney in 2008, she has further explored the not-for-profit sector, working in NFP organisations, membership organisations and federated structures, Ms Hawkins has developed a deep understanding of what is required to navigate the sector.
Most recently Ms Hawkins led Life Education in the position of CEO, with prior experience leading the YWCA Australia team through a major merger. She also has experience in senior leadership within organisations such as Lifeline Australia, YWCA Canberra, and HSBC Bank.
“Through her experiences and natural interpersonal approach, Verity is a leader who uses a strengths-based, collaborative and positive style to lead with transparency and accountability,” a Playgroup Australia spokesperson wrote.
