Junior Landcare Learning Centre finishes 2020 with ‘exceptional results’

The Junior Landcare Learning Centre launched in February 2020 thanks to “a generous investment” from Woolworths, and is closing out 2020 having grown to become an environmental education platform that is helping thousands of Australian children be aware, empowered and active in caring for their local environment.

Using the extensive knowledge from the Landcare Australia team, the Learning Centre, part of the broader work of not-for-profit organisation Landcare Australia, provides access to 30 minute learning activities for teachers, educators, parents, carers, youth groups and Landcare  community groups. 

There are over 35 learning activities in the collection, which has a focus on food production, Indigenous perspectives, waste management and biodiversity, with more under development. 

“Junior Landcare makes it easy and fun for children to get involved in environmental sustainability activities at school, at home or in the community,” a spokesperson for the group said. 

The Learning Centre also features an Educator Hub that enables educators to access project planning resources, educator notes and an opportunity to connect with other environmental educators.

“The goal of Junior Landcare is to promote continuous participation in Landcare activities from childhood to adulthood. This is what the Junior Landcare Learning Centre provides and we are very grateful to Woolworths’ ongoing support in enabling us to develop this important resource,” Dr Shane Norrish, CEO of Landcare Australia said.
