Port Macquarie Community Preschool to bring more children to education and care

Port Macquarie Community Preschool will now be able to support more children to access early childhood education and care (ECEC) thanks to the provision of a new minibus through New South Wales Government funding.
Thanks to a recent grant, the service was able to purchase the mini bus to roll out its transportation program, which Centre Director Megan Jones said will support the service to give families greater access to education and care through the service’s new preschool transportation program.
“We provide a fully supervised, daily pick-up and drop-off service for enrolled families,” she told local publication Port Macquarie News.
The preschool has strong links with the Birpai community and is the only preschool in Port Macquarie with an ongoing Reconciliation Action Plan (RAP) endorsed by Narragunnawali and Reconciliation Australia.
With this in mind, and in keeping with the commitment by the service to embed an Indigenous perspective in their work, the service commissioned artwork from local Aboriginal artist Dave Donovan.
The artwork depicts the sea creatures found in the local area, and provides an eye catching presence when the vehicle is on the road.
