Nominations now open for the ACT Public Education Awards

Nominations for the ACT Public Education Awards are now open, recognising those staff members who go “above and beyond” to make a real difference in the lives of children and communities.
“We have so many exceptional staff working across our public schools and within our education support office and this is an opportunity for us to recognise the work and dedication of our colleagues,” a statement from the ACT Education Directorate read.
In recognition of the challenges faced by schools and the Education Support Office during the COVID-19 pandemic, nominations are encouraged to also consider contributions and innovations during the emergencies of 2020.
There are 11 award categories, with nominations available for both individuals and groups.
Of interest to those working in the early childhood education and care (ECEC) sector are the awards for early childhood teacher of the year, new educator of the year, leaders of the year in Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Education, outstanding partnership of the year, and volunteer of the year.
The guidelines provide further information about the criteria of each category. Once the guidelines have been reviewed, nominations can be made online, here.
Nominations close COB 30 September 2020, with the awards to be judged by panels made up of members of the Executive Governance Committee, Executive Branch Managers and other staff within the Education Directorate.
A virtual awards ceremony will be held online in November, where winners will be announced.
For further information or for assistance completing a nomination form, please contact the Directorate’s People and Performance team on [email protected]
