A variety of Queensland early childhood education and care (ECEC) services will share in $14.6 million in grants funding from the Queensland Government, via the 104th round of the Gambling Community Benefit Fund (GCBF).

Wandoan And District Kindergarten, a Creche And Kindergarten Association Limited (C&K) service, was successful in their application for $7,450 which will be put towards camel races, while children at Biloela Community Pre-School And Kindergarten, another C&K service, will receive a $ 35,000.00 upgrade to their sandpit area.

YMCA Outside School Hours Care (OSHC) services in the state are also beneficiaries, with The Gap OSHC to install security windows at a cost of $12,735, while the Park Ridge OSHC will construct a $35,000 outdoor community kitchen garden.

Cairns & District Child Care Development Association, who operate Family Day Care Cairns will purchase play and educational resources  with their $31,841.31 grant, while Townsville Public Sector Child Care Centre will undertake a $15,881.19 facility upgrade.

Queensland’s Attorney-General Minister for Justice Yvette D’Ath said the popular program was “a lifeline” for 586 community and sporting groups, local councils and other organisations throughout Queensland.

Flexibility around acquittal will be given to recipients, recognising that challenges may arise as a result of COVID-19, with some organisations having to delay or extend the timeline for their events, purchases or projects as a result.

The GCBF grants are worth between $500 and $35,000 and applications are open to not-for-profit organisations. Over the past 25 years, GCBF has distributed more than $947 million to community groups helping Queenslanders.

The grants are merit based and funding is allocated by an independent panel. Applications for round 106 of the Gambling Community Benefit Fund are now open and will close at 11.59pm on 31 August 2020.

A full list of ECEC relevant recipients, excluding those mentioned above, has been provided below.
